My Approach

As a busy wife, mom, nurse, coach, and trainer, I recognize life can be busy. It can be hard to prioritize your health over so many other competing demands. Prioritizing lifestyle change must be strategic and focused on your personal needs. I’ll help you define your strengths and abilities as well as recognize your preferences along with any limitations. Together we’ll apply these concepts to your goals, identifying appropriate strategies to produce change and build new habits towards a healthier lifestyle. When things get difficult, I’ll be there to help you navigate obstacles so you can continue to be successful.

My Transformation

Left: Danielle, spring 2017.

Right: Danielle, spring 2021.

After the birth of our second child, I struggled to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy. As a Mom and Wife, I found it challenging to prioritize my own needs amidst the demands of having a family.

In the past, I had enjoyed running and yoga, so I decided to start easing back into exercise, but I struggled to find the time after work. Despite hating to get up early, I recognized that the early morning was probably the only time I wouldn’t get interrupted.

On a Sunday night in May 2018, I set my alarm for Monday morning and laid out my workout clothes in the bathroom. I set a goal to get up early and exercise for the next 21 days. I did it, and I kept going.

Over the next 9 months, I lost approximately 30 pounds. When my weight loss stalled, I recognized that my nutrition also needed an overhaul. I took the time to study the foundational concepts of balanced nutrition beyond what was covered in nursing school and began applying them.

Over the next 18 months, I reached my goal weight and have maintained it using flexible, balanced, and sustainable approaches to training and nutrition.

I'm here to help you on your journey to success too!

My Background

My professional background

I’ve been a Registered Nurse since 2008 working in traditional bedside nursing, clinical nursing education, executive healthcare leadership, and regulatory consulting. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Northern Illinois University and I’m currently finishing my master’s degree in nursing from Aspen University with a specialty in healthcare informatics.

I’m also a licensed public health nurse, certified personal trainer, and certified nutrition coach (National Academy of Sports Medicine). I’m also working towards my board certification in health and wellness coaching.

Through my education and experiences, I became frustrated with the lack of preventive health services available to patients in the traditional healthcare environment. Primary care professionals were overwhelmed treating acute and chronic disease, so preventative care needs were unmet. I recognized the need for integrative wellness services that combine both traditional Western medicine with complementary and alternative care practices.

I’ve been married since 2008 to my best friend, Nick. We met shortly after high school, dated long-distance while we attended college, then moved from Illinois to Minnesota to pursue our careers. We now have two children, a crazy dog, and a small flock of laying hens.

My personal hobbies include baking, cooking, recipe creation, sewing, and gardening. As a family, we love to be outdoors as often as possible. We live near a large lake in Northern Minnesota and we enjoy being on the water together. Nick and I are also avid hunters during the fall months, pursuing whitetail deer and upland birds. Recently, we even started taking our kids along on these trips as well. In the winter, we typically spend the weekend’s ice fishing or snowshoeing around our property.

We feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the United States, have property to call our own, and have countless recreation opportunities.
